It’s been surprising to me how quickly people have moved on from the tragic and heinous event in Waukesha last Sunday. It only happened 7 days ago, just one week, and yet I don’t see the wall-to-wall coverage that so much other drivel gets.

It was a clear night in 1994. An earthquake shook Los Angeles and caused a city-wide power outage just before dawn. Jolted awake, some residents stumbled outside and called a local observatory to report a mysterious cloud overhead.

If I wanted to talk about something controversial this morning, I’d have plenty of things to choose from. Not the least of these would be the concept of freedom.
