Beyond the Basics

Do you have a basic knowledge of God's Word or an advanced degree? Do you know the lyrics to the song, "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know...and This is All I Want to Know"? or do you truly long to understand all that God has written in his Word?
"Beyond the Basics" is a 4-week series on four biblical teachings that you may not have learned during your first time at church.
Suburban Legends

Every culture and community has legends. Passed on from generation to generation, these legends become part of our culture and beliefs. The church is no exception. Over the ages people have sometimes repeated, "The Bible says..." without checking if the Bible really does say that. Thus legends are formed among Christians and about Christians.
"Suburban Legends" is a 4-week sermon series that aims to debunk the myths and expose the truth about Jesus' call to follow him.
Everyday Christians

"Everyday Christians" is a series of messages on living your faith even when it's not Sunday morning. Unfortunately, many Christians "act out" their faith in a church, but have marriages, families, and work environments that seem unaffected by their beliefs.
Titus: Good Doctrine, Good Deeds

Doctrine or deeds? Which matters most in this 21st century world?
Should a church be most concerned about solid doctrine, correct confessions of faith, and theological details? Or should it focus most on deeds of love in the community--service, hospitality, generosity, etc.? Are the endless divisions of denominations God-pleasing or should churches learn to agree to disagree and just love one another?
Money Matters

Does that image make you nervous? Cash and the Bible?!? Something about it just seems wrong.
Jesus wouldn't think so. His sermons were filled with money talk--coins, treasures, managers, investors, and cash crops. The Apostle Paul did the same thing. His letter to a broke 1st century church has two chapters on money that paired financial terms with words like "love," "grace," "joy," "eagerness," "cheerful", and a story about people who "pleaded for the privilege" of giving!
The Ways of Worship

Why do Christians do the things they do on Sunday mornings? Since God hasn't laid out exactly how we should spend that time together, why do we choose some things and not others?
Mission to be Accomplished

Jesus gave his followers an exciting mission to carry out, but judging by the attitude of many of his supposed followers, that mission must have been accomplished long ago. The excitement, enthusiasm for spiritual growth, and desire to share the incredible news of freedom and joy has been lost by too many Christians.
Eastside's mission is to "grow in Jesus" and to "tell of his love". "Mission to be Accomplished" is a 2-week sermon series reminding us that Jesus' exciting call to grow and tell still lies before us:
