  • Sun., Jan. 31 – The Junior Choir sings in the 8:00 a.m. worship service.
  • Sun., Feb. 7 – Junior Bells play in the 8:00 a.m. worship service.
  • Sun., Feb. 21 – Grades 1-4 sing in the 8:00 a.m. worship service.
 
QUARTERLY MISSION SERVICE – Wed., Jan. 20, at 8:30 a.m. The mission for the third quarter is Lakeside Lutheran High School.   You are all welcome to attend.
 
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES – There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 18, due to Parent-Teacher Conferences. 
 
CHILDCARE IS OPEN ON 1-18-10Reminder!  School is closed on Monday, January 18th.  Childcare is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Please call if you still need to sign up.
 
QUARTER ENDS/NEW LUNCH MENUThe new lunch menu for the third quarter was sent home with your child last week. The new menu will begin on Tuesday, January 19. Please save for future reference.
 
PARENT-TEACHER ORGANIZATION – Our next PTO meeting is today, January 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The main order of business will be to discuss the school calendar for the 2010-11 school year. We will see you on the 13th.
 
SPELLING BEE RESULTS – The Eastside Lutheran School Spelling Bee was held on Friday, January 8. Results are as follows: Derek Gulrud (5th grade) was the winner and Nora Stake (6th grade) was the runner-up. Others finishing in the top five were: Lizzy Denzer (7th grade), William Johnston (5th grade), and Ethan Harmel (7th grade). Congratulations to all who participated, and God’s blessings to Derek as he represents our school in the All-City Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 27th, at Edgewood College’s Anderson Auditorium.  
 
LAKESIDE FAMILY FEST – Family Fest will be take place at Lakeside Lutheran High School on February 20th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This will be a morning of faith, food, fun, learning, and games for children in Pre-K through 4th grade. The cost is $5 per child or a $10 maximum per family. If you would like to attend, sign-up sheets are available in the church narthex.
 
PLEASE TAKE NOTE – Even though the weather is chilly, please do not leave children unattended in the car when dropping off or picking up students.
 
END OF SEMESTER – The first semester will end on Thursday, January 14. Mid-morning milk money is due on Tuesday, January 19, for students wishing to have mid-morning milk second semester. Several students have already paid. The price is $25.00 for the semester. You may send your check to the school office. If you have any questions, please call.
 
SIX FLAGS READING – The students in K-6 are invited to do the Six Flags Reading Program again this year. The children are to read for fun for 6 hours. (The reading should not be part of an assignment.) The younger children may be read to. There will be a form coming home for the book titles to be marked onto and signed by a parent. The students have from now until February 23rd to turn in their form to their teacher. It may be turned in earlier, as the 23rd is the last day to get all the forms collected and processed. The prize, as in previous years, is a ticket to use this summer at Six Flags in Gurnee, IL. If you have questions please talk to Mrs. Boll.

KINDERGARTEN TREASURE BOX – The kindergarten treasure boxes are in need of some “treasures.” If you have any clean little treasures (happy meal toys, tiny stuffed animals, etc.) that you no longer need or use and are willing to give up, please drop them off in the kindergarten room or school office. Thanks for helping treat the kindergarteners!
 
MOMS’ GROUP – The MOMS’ Group will meet on Thursday, January 21st, at 6 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse. Please RSVP to Jessica Meyer at jessicameyer97@hotmail.com.

BUCKY BOOK – Our school fundraiser is the Bucky Book. The cost is $35 with $15 going to the school. Proceeds will go toward items on the wish list. If you are interested in purchasing a Bucky Book, please sign up in the school office. Your check can be made out to Eastside Lutheran School. You may also pay with Visa, Mastercard, or Discover.
