WORSHIP– Sunday, February 14 – 8:00 and 10:30 a.m.; Monday, February 21 – 6:30 p.m. Please make worship part of your life. 
 
 
ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP SERVICES– on Wed., Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. There is a fellowship supper at 5:00 p.m. 
 
TOURNAMENT WEEKEND SATURDAY NIGHT WORSHIP SERVICE– There will be an additional worship service on the weekend of the Eagle Basketball Tournament at Eastside. This service is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 20th, at 5:30 p.m.
 
MUSIC
  • Sun., Feb. 21 – Grades 1-4 sing in the 10:30 a.m. worship service. (This is a change from the singing schedule.)
 
NO PTO MEETING ON FEB. 10TH – There will be no PTO meeting on Wednesday, February 10th, as previously announced.
 
NO SCHOOLMon., Feb. 22 – Winter Break and Fri., Feb. 26 – Teachers are attending a curriculum conference. 
 
SIX FLAGS READING – The students in K-6 are invited to do the Six Flags Reading Program again this year. The children are to read for fun for 6 hours. (The reading should not be part of an assignment.) The younger children may be read to. A form went home for the book titles to be marked onto and signed by a parent. The students have from now until February 23rd to turn in their form to their teacher. It may be turned in earlier, as the 23rd is the last day to get all the forms collected and processed. The prize, as in previous years, is a ticket to use this summer at Six Flags in Gurnee, IL. If you have questions please talk to Mrs. Boll.
 
VISUAL ARTS FAIR – On Saturday, February 6th, Lakeside Lutheran High School held its Visual Arts Fair. Several of our students from grades 5-8 participated.

2nd Place – Nora Stake, Derek Gulrud, Pierce Varney, Autumn Koehn, Mikayla
                   Hodkiewicz, Liz Denzer, Jade Wood, and Brooke Newton
A special judges’ choice award went to Mikayla Hodkiewicz.
We congratulate these students and thank them for using their God-given abilities to serve Him.

SPIRIT WEEK – FEBRUARY 15 – 19

Spirit week begins on Monday, February 15th, so it’s time to get your school spirit up and support our teams! Monday, Feb. 15th, is PJ Day. Don’t bother changing that morning. Just hop out of bed and head over to school in your finest sleeping attire. (Please keep in mind Christian modesty.)  Tuesday, Feb. 16th, is Twin DayCopying is allowed on this day. Show your spirit by dressing like your friend. Wednesday, Feb. 17th, is Dress- Up Day. School spirit is strong in those who look fine! Thursday, Feb. 18th, is Color Day. Nothing says spirit like a colorful school. The following grades are asked to wear the color next to their grade: Preschool – Blue, Kindergarten – Blue, 1st Grade – Orange, 2nd Grade – Brown, 3rd Grade – Green, 4th Grade – Purple, 5th Grade – Yellow, 6th Grade – Gray, 7th Grade – Pink, and 8th Grade – Black. Wear as much of the color as you can. Friday, Feb. 19th, is Red and White Day. Bring out the spirit as you wear our school colors (again, no Eastside uniforms). Colored hair spray and body paint are prohibited on ALL DAYS.

Spirit week will conclude with a school pep rally on Friday at 2:15. The team players will be introduced as we get them fired up for the weekend tournament. 
 
FAMILY POSTER CONTEST: How can you show school spirit, bond with your family, decorate the gym, and win fabulous prizes? Enter the Eastside Eagle Family Poster contest! Each family is allowed to enter one poster promoting our school and the Eastside Eagles basketball team. Pick up the poster paper in the office, come up with a catchy slogan, add some artwork, and return it to the school office. (Use large pictures and bold letters on your poster.) The contest ends on Wed., Feb. 17th at 8:15 a.m. The poster winners will be announced at the pep rally on Friday afternoon. Of course, everyone who enters is a winner just by displaying their school spirit. Depending on the number of entries, most posters will be displayed in the gym for the basketball tournament held on Feb. 19th-21st.
 
EAGLE APPARELThank you to all who purchased Eagle apparel.  Pick up is this Thursday, February 11, at 3:00 p.m. in the lobby outside preschool.  Please consider labeling your eagle apparel with your name when you bring it home!!
 
SHAKE YOUR EAGLE SPIRITIf you wish to order a pompom or shaker for the pep rally, please turn in orders as soon as possible.  The orders are due by Tuesday, February 16th.
 
MOMS’ GROUP – The MOMS’ Group will meet on Thursday, February 25th, at 6 p.m. at Babe's Sport Grill. Please RSVP to Jessica Meyer at jessicameyer97@hotmail.com.
 
KINDERGARTEN AND PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT FOR 2010-2011 – If you are interested in enrolling your child in Kindergarten at Eastside Lutheran School for the 2010-2011 school year, or if you know somebody who may be interested, please contact the school office (244-3045). Children entering Kindergarten must be 5-years-old before 9/1/10 and tested by Eastside personnel.
      Preschool registration for children ages 3 and 4 by 9/1/10 will be distributed in February. Watch the church bulletin for further information.
 
LAKESIDE SPORTS PROGRAMS AND CAMPS – If you are interested in Lakeside’s Tackle Football Program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys, the Summer Softball Program for 7 to 16-year old girls, or the 2010 Warrior Sport Camps (Basketball – boys and girls entering grades 4-9 or Volleyball – girls entering grades 6-9), please pick up a brochure from the school office.
 
LAKESIDE FAMILY FEST – Family Fest will take place at Lakeside Lutheran High School on Saturday, February 20th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This will be a morning of faith, food, fun, learning, and games for children in Pre-K through 4th grade. The cost is $5 per child or a $10 maximum per family. If you would like to attend, sign-up sheets are available in the church narthex.
