LEAVING THE GAY LIFESTYLE FOR GOD’S GRACE In our culture, homosexuality is a hot topic.  From gay pride parades to the battle over gay marriage, the topic brings emotions to a boil.  However, at the heart of the controversy are individual people who have individual relationships with God.  Scott Barefoot is one of those people.  A young man from Virginia, Scott has wrestled with homosexuality in his life, leaving the church and then returning years later.  Scott recently wrote an article in the Forward in Christ magazine and has been kind enough to come to Eastside from his home in Virginia to share his story with us.  Join us on Sunday night, May 10th at 6:30 p.m. at Eastside to listen to Scott and ask questions about his experiences and how we, as Christians, can speak the truth in love to the gay community in Madison.  Contact Pastor Mike with any questions.

REMINDER– Registration materials for the 2009-2010 school year were sent home on Monday, April 27, for the 2009-2010 school year. They were to be completed and returned to the school office by last week Friday, May 1. As of today, we have not received registration forms for all students. If you have not handed in your forms, would you please give this your immediate attention and return them to the school office TOMORROW. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Eastside Lutheran School.

SOCCER/BIBLE CAMP-COMMUNITY CANVASSPart of Eastside’s mission is to “tell of Jesus’ love.”  Our second annual Soccer/Bible Camp, entitled “The Wonderful Cross” is a perfect way to do just that.  In order to get the word out to our community, we are having a canvass on Saturday morning, May 16th, from 9:30 a.m. – Noon.  No “Apostle Paul evangelism skills” are necessary; just two functioning legs and a desire to connect our neighbors to their Savior.  We will pass out camp brochures and then enjoy a pizza lunch together back at Eastside.  Please help us reach our goal of 80 kids at this year’s camp.  See you on May 16th!

KINDERGARTEN AND PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT FOR 2009-2010 – If you are interested in enrolling your child in Kindergarten at Eastside Lutheran School for the 2009-2010 school year, or if you know somebody who may be interested, please contact the school office (244-3045). Children entering Kindergarten must be 5-years-old before 9/1/09 and tested by Eastside personnel.
Preschool registration information for children ages 3 and 4 by 9/1/09 is available. Please contact Miss Howell for further information (244-3045).
