TAKE A LOOK BACK AT GOD'S AMAZING GRACE AT EASTSIDE Read about the 75 years of history of Eastside. You will discover the amazing grace of God that compelled God's people to share the message of Jesus by organizing this congregation. The undeserved love of God moved the founders of our congregation to take the time and energy to establish another beacon for the light of Christ. The Apostle Paul describes this grace of God in Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God .. " We thank God for that precious gift of faith given to his people by the Holy Spirit. The 1920's were challenging times. Those of us born after World War II have a hard time grasping what life then was like. What we can understand is that God used his people to proclaim the truth of God about sin and the need for a Savior, Jesus Christ. God blessed those early efforts richly. He blessed the congregation with the ability to bring that message of Jesus to many other people. The founders of Eastside had a great concern for Christian education. The Lord blessed that concern for Christian education throughout the years. In the history of the congregation are the names of individuals, pastors, teachers and laymen who were significant in the history of Eastside. There are many more people who are not mentioned that gave time, money and faithful service. We thank God for every person who has had an opportunity to come to know his Savior and be nurtured in his faith in Jesus at Eastside. Looking back is good. See the amazing grace of God. Thank God for faithful pastors, teachers and lay people. Thank God for the facilities that have been constructed by God:s people first at North Street and then at our present location on Independence Lane. Thank God that the name of Christ has been proclaimed and pray that many more people come to know the amazing grace of God. "Amazing grace how- sweet the sound - That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see. Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; 'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home." |
