I am a 1984 graduate of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. I have taught in Williamston, Michigan, and Menasha, Baraboo and now Madison, Wisconsin.

Besides being a school principal for 26 years, I have also served as a classroom teacher in grades 5-8, been an athletic director and coach, and served three years as a family minister. I look forward to working side by side with my wife again as she will be teaching grades 2-3 this year. When I am not in my teacher mode I enjoy taking long walks and traveling with my wife, reading a good mystery novel, and taking care of our yard.

My wife, Tammy, and I  live in Sun Prairie. We have three children—Steve, a CPA living in Milwaukee; Tom, a college senior, and his wife, Becca, living in Lincoln, Nebraska; and Rachel, a freshman at Carroll University in Waukesha.

“I believe that Eastside Lutheran School offers children that which is needed the most in life, which is daily instruction in God’s Word. It is that faith in Jesus, our Savior, which serves as the motivating factor for everything our children do. To be an instructor working with colleagues of the same faith, teaching children the love of Christ in all facets of education is the joy of every day.”

I am originally from Oakley, Michigan where I grew up on a beef farm.  I have an older sister, Rebekah, and a younger brother, Joshua.  My home congregation  was Christ Lutheran in Oakley. I attended grade school at Christ and then went to Michigan Lutheran Seminary for high school.  In December 2010, I graduated  from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota with my degree in elementary and secondary education.

After graduation I had the opportunity to return back to Michigan where substituted for many of the local Lutheran Grade Schools in the area ranging from preschool to 8th grade. I also worked at Michigan State University as a Human Resources assistant.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, reading, and traveling.

I am looking forward to the school year and sharing my love for teaching and Jesus with my students!

The love of children led me to pursue the teaching ministry. I received my teaching degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota and my state certification from Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.

My first two years of teaching were spent on an Apache Reservation as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. I really enjoyed working with another culture and learned many things from these people.

Teaching in Oconomowoc and now in Madison has brought me back to my home state of Wisconsin. I have enjoyed coaching many sports with my favorites being volleyball and basketball. Working with remedial students has also been an area of interest.

I thank the Lord for giving me the privilege to serve Him here at Eastside.

Hi, I’m Tammy Monroe and currently the second and third grade teacher at Eastside Lutheran. I knew I always wanted to be a teacher as I was growing up in Van Dyne, Wisconsin. After high school graduation from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, WI, I attended and graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. I later earned my Wisconsin teaching certification from Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.

I have had the privilege to teach kindergarten children in Williamston, MI, Prairie du Sac, Baraboo, Sun Prairie, and Madison, WI. I have also served as a substitute teacher in and around the Madison area. I am excited and feel blessed to be the teacher of Jesus’ little lambs in 2nd and 3rd grades at Eastside.

My husband, Scott, is 7th and 8th grade teacher and principal here at Eastside.  We have been blessed with three children: Stephen, Tom and his wife, Becca, and Rachel. In any spare time I have outside of the classroom, I enjoy exercising and the outdoors, trying a new recipe, reading, and keeping in touch with family and friends.
