Church News

Eastside Lutheran Church exists to share the Word of God with the Madison community and beyond.  With faithful, understandable, and practical teaching, we strive to grow in our faith and share our faith so that more and more people will know the peace and joy that Jesus gives.

We welcome all people to join us at 8:00am and 10:30am on Sundays and 6:30pm on Mondays.

Revelation, the final book of the Bible, is also the most challenging book of the Bible. Revelation has comforted, inspired, intrigued, and confused God's people for the last 1900 years. Although he later changed his mind, even Martin Luther admitted early in his ministry, "My spirit cannot accommodate this book." Yet, the Holy Spirit inspired these words for a reason. In early 2012, Pastor Mike will lead a study of Revelation in search of that reason.

Year In Review

2011 is nearly behind us. It’s been an eventful year . . . with natural disasters and political controversies. Despite the turmoil, God’s grace to us as individual Christians, and his blessings to us as a church body remain constant. Our synod president, Rev. Mark Schroeder, reviews those blessings this past year—and how God is using WELS for his purposes through your support.Watch the video!

On November 4th, we begin a study of John's three letters. First, Second and Third John were written by John, the beloved disciple, who also wrote the fourth Gospel. The first letter was written to warn Christians about dangerous false teachers who were trying to mislead them. These teachers were teaching that the man Jesus was not the Christ, the Son of God. They said that God did not become a man.

Walking Together

Jesus' final instructions to us as Christians were to go and make disciples of all nations. It's a mission we as a synod walk together to accomplish. As the opportunities for outreach expand around the globe—so too does the need for workers willing to go. Our ministry training schools are stepping up to meet the need.Watch the video!

What is Reformation Day?

On October 31st, 1517, Martin Luther posted 95 statements (or theses) on the door of Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. These 95 statements were things that he found wrong with the Roman Catholic Church, centering on the doctrines of baptism and absolution (or forgiveness).

Why do we celebrate Reformation Day?

This was the day Martin Luther, using the Bible, said we are saved by Grace, by faith and by Scripture, and not by anything we do. How amazing it is to know our eternal salvation doesn't depend on us!

Ukraine

This past June, representatives from 33 countries met in Minnesota for the triennial convention of the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference—or CELC. As an international fellowship of confessional Lutheran churches, the CELC is a reminder that there are Christians all over the world walking together with us in WELS—in places like Ukraine.Watch the video!
