Art
Purpose
Art is taught to children as a means and way for them to glorify and praise God. (I Corinthians 10:31, Psalm 145:10. It also teaches the children to utilize their God given talents. (Matthew 25;15, Exodus 31:3-5).
General Objectives
A. Knowledge and Understanding
1. That perfect examples of art may be found in God’s creation.
2. That God has given different artistic ability to each child.
3. All of man’s creative efforts are to be used for God’s glory.
4. That a study and use of art elements will lead to a greater appreciation of all
artistic expression.
5. Standards in art are necessary to evaluate their own work and the work of others.
B. Attitudes
1. Gratitude to God for His masterful creation—the perfect basis of many art forms.
2. An awareness of the beauty that exists in daily living.
3. A desire to grow in the ability to handle art media and methods.
4. A respect for tools and supplies.
5. A willingness to accept and use constructive criticism of creative work.
6. A desire to use art interests and activities to enrich work, worship, and leisure time.

1. Opportunity and ability to express one’s self spiritually through art.
2. Skill in understanding and using the elements of art.
